The bombsoldier trick? I think I missed something. Please explain what he does in his little trick.

Time and time again these threads fail to disprove the fact that human stupidity knows no bounds.

It's not really his trick cuz he didn't invent it but he's the first one to use it in tournaments. It's the double lazer trick from the ledge so that the lazers go in a straight line one after another. I've been trying for about 2-3 weeks in training mode (playing sparadicolly of course). I haven't even gotten close to doing it right. And I even looked up frame data and studied the bombsolider video to see how he's doing it. It's really starting to get to me.

I figured I should type up my entire rationale.

All of his moves are really straight forward. They do exactly what you think they'll do and it's not that hard to learn to sweet spot them. Fsmash has a tipper, uair has a sweet spot, dtilt is an excellent combo starter, sheild hopping isn't rocket science, the fair is a disjointed hitbox at initial pullout (which is really the only tricky thing about it), his grabs are powerful, especially when you know what they do (like reading guides). His nair is also pretty simple to figure out. The only real tricky move is the bair and that's only because the sweetspot is at the base of his tail, not the end. And even then, you usually want to use the end anyway.

His double jump is not really hard to control, especially if you're using X or Y to jump. He doesn't lurch in a certain direction, really, at the start of the jump and it's slow enough that DJC isn't really that hard to pull off.

The other move that may be tricky is the dair but as MookieRah has said, it's not actually that hard. People just make it seem harder than it actually is because it's different. After looking at the move for a little while, it's not that hard to notice where the move connects and when.

I didn't just pull that "easy" ranking out of my ass. I thought about it for a while and placed accordingly. I never said he was the easiest character to master either. Both Mario and Fox are easier to master than Mewtwo is. But it just because a character is low tier doesn't mean he's automatically hard to learn.

Not that I'm disagreeing or anything, but I've always heard that Mewtwo is tricky to learn. I've never really used him seriously, so I can't comment on it myself.

I'm guessing it's because of the way he moves. When people start playing him, they become overwelmed because he's so different and seemingly harder to control than other characters.

But that's more of an artificial barrier than anything. If that were really all that true, Marth would be one of the harder characters to learn. And he's really not.

Putting aside that he's so different, controlling him actually involves a lot of ease in playing. You have to be focused and paying attention to control him and follow up his moves but you should be anyway.

Yeah, Mewtwo moves around much differently than other characters. Once you get around this, it isn't so hard.

I dissagre with some of that. Mews main elemint is you have to fight smart to use him and like most characters some combos are pretty darn hard.

True, you can't play stupid with Mewtwo like you can with Fox. But that doesn't mean he's hard to get under your belt either. For all the reasons I've mentioned.

You can't really nplay stupid with any character.

It's easier to play stupid with certain characters to a certain extent. Sheik is a prime example of novies just button mashing and doing decently. Fox and Falco, at the intermediate level, can be played by pure instinct, although when the other player catches on and starts using mindgames, it falls apart.

But I guess at higher levels of play, mindgames take precidence. So yeah, you can't play stupid with any character. Which makes the "you have to be smart with the character" point invalid since you have to do it with all characters I guess.

It's very easy actually.

Ledge hop, but with the control stick. You see, the hard part isn't ledge hopping at the right moment, but pressing B fast enough to pull out two lasers before you hit the ground. I do the same thing when I SHDL with Fox. With the control stick, your thumb is already on the B button so you can laser ASAP when you ledge hop.

After that, it's just a matter of getting the timing of the ledge hop down, which is like as easy as wavedashing with Bowser.

Nice. I was experimenting with it but gave up on it after a few attempts. Thanks Worldorder. The best I've been able to do with X/Y ledgehopping is shoot a lazer at Gdorf's torso and then at his feet and that's hardly a straight line. I'll remember to try that.

I guess this'll be my last post in this thread. This survived much longer than I thought it would, which may be good or bad; it needs to be off the first page before Week 3 is up tongue .
